The Tomas Cusiné winery inthe Costers del Segre has been awarded the prize for the best cellarat the 2012Ceremony heldby the Catalan Association of Sommeliers onJune 4th.
The entrepreneur and winemaker Tomas Cusiné decided to undertake, in the village of El Vilosell, a new wine project in which todirect allthe passion and knowledge he hascollected overthirty years dedicated to viticulture. His extensive experience in the Designation of Origin Costers del Segre has allowed him to create easily recognisablewines that havepersonality and style: Vilosell, Geol, Auzells, Finca Comabarra, Finca Rancons, Llebre, Drac Magic...
The 30 hectare Tomas Cusiné estate is located at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level and borders thePriorat, Conca de Barbera, and Montsant. All Cusiné’s wines are harvested and selected by hand, before winemaking. The aging of his wines is done in barriques of fine French oak of 225 litres chosen from the best in France.
Currently, the winery exports to 26 Countries, sending 75% of its production abroad.
Other award-winners chosenby the Sommelier Association were David Seijas (best sommelier), Sara Pérez of Priorat (best winemaker), Alfredo Peris (best journalist), University Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona (best institution) and Antonio Salas (Posthumous Award).
